New Berne House Inn is situated in the historic town of New Bern, NE within walking distance of historic downtown and around the corner from nationally recognized landmark, Tryon Palace. New Berne House Inn was built in 1922 by contractor Elijah Taylor for his son, John Taylor and John's wife and three children. The Taylors lived in the home for 64 years; it was their family home until 1986 at which time it was sold and converted into a Bed & Breakfast. New Berne House Inn retains much of its original character and few structural changes have been made to the home. Four bathrooms were added and the kitchen and back porch were remodeled; the back porch was originally built as the servant’s porch. Much effort has been made to retain the ambience and style of this grand home. The main foyer still has the wallpaper which Mrs. Taylor chose in the 1930s and the original staircase runs all the way to the third floor. This home showcases the style, comfort and craftsmanship from a bygone era.
All stays include a full breakfast - selection of homemade breads, a hot dish, specialty sweet treat, fruit, and choice of juice, coffee and tea. Breakfast is served on vintage dishes in the beautiful dining room. |
